Recommend or Prescribe Nutriceuticals

Last night I attended a nutriceutical business presentation. The presentor claims that nutriceutical is a multi-billion business. I tend to believe that he is telling the truth. This business has grown into an unprecedented magnitude with minimal or no help from medical and health practitioners. Apparently, many consumers have found some of these nutriceutical products good for them and many had been literally cured of their diseases.

I would like to restate the question asked by a nursing student who was present in the meeting. IF SOME NUTRICEUTICAL PRODUCTS ARE THAT GOOD, WHY DO

MEDICAL AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS REFRAIN FROM PRESCRIBING THESE PRODUCTS TO THEIR PATIENTS?

Is there anyone out there who could help me and give me a professional response to this question?
